An entrepreneurial technical graphics professional with over thirty-years hands-on small business practice experience specializing in the design, intellectual property and manufacturing industries, functioning as an industrial designer, patent, technical graphics and documentation practitioner. A fast learner and owner of numerous patents in a variety of technologies; software, military, medical, CAD, technical documentation and multimedia presentations. A perfectionist providing specialized creative skills and services from manual techniques to advanced digital communications, web and software design. An accomplished airbrush, pencil and pen-and-ink specialist.


Provision of high quality, deadline-oriented technical graphics relating to the development of conceptual ideation, industrial design, engineering, manufacturing, patent illustrations, presentation graphics, technical illustration and documentation of complex industrial machinery, products and processes. Worked full-time for 11-years with South Africa's leading military R&D design team on wheeled prototype vehicles for the G6, Rooikat, Ingwe and Ratel while freelancing to advertising agencies, the DeHuizemark housing market and numerous magazine publishers.


Skills include multimedia presentations for animation and web, trade shows, conventions and courtroom exhibits. My years as a business owner have evolved my abilities knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes, materials and, skills in industrial design and technical graphics, management techniques, ergonomics and human factors, client liaisons, project management, delegating, training, marketing and that of implementing methods of streamlining production processes and quality control convection's and conventions.

1989-2001 - (12-years)
President (co-owner): Developed an interactive-graphics service company and a portfolio of repeat clients by providing high quality and cost effective creative designs, graphics and illustration, covering concept to manufacture, documentation and training. Projects included product design using the latest 3D-2D solid modeling principles, engineering graphics, patent graphics, technical graphics, and web and presentation graphics. Personally supplied, managed and trained a team of 17 engineers, industrial designers, draftsmen, illustrators and graphic artists to produce complex illustrations on projects, to highly regulated specifications, including MIL, ISO, ANSI, BSI, DIN, and JIS standards.
Developed PowerPoint presentations for business plans, corporate presentations, marketing, courtroom exhibits, training and documentation. Author of exclusive rights on numerous patents for commercial, military, medical and industrial products and design to manufacture applications.

1977-1989 - (12-years)
President (founder and owner): Developed and supplied industrial design and technical illustration to a leading research and development military vehicle plant on a full-time contract basis. Supplied (after-hours) utility and design patent illustrations to patent attorneys. Freelance work in design, finished art and mechanicals for advertising campaigns to the De-Huizemark Group, a large consortium of independent realtors. Also freelanced finished art for the Wilsenagh Group and Young & Rubicam advertising agencies.

1981-1989 - (9-years)
Contract Departmental Manager and Industrial Designer/Illustrator: Trading as NB Graphics c.c. Security clearance to work with military research and development on classified and top-secret military vehicles. Owner of patents on military vehicles and blast deflective hulls. Worked alongside South Africa’s leading design engineers and advanced through the ranks to senior industrial designer within two years of service. Further promotion to departmental manager of the design and technical documentation faculty placed in charge of 17 personnel. Worked laterally with the SA Security Academy- Military Intelligence.
Overwhelmed with freelance work demand and advanced into full-time business practice having Sandock Austral remaining as one of my largest clients before immigrating to Atlanta in August 1989 and re-establishing NB Graphics and Associates, Inc., skills and services.

· South African Defense Force, 3rd South African Infantry Command. (3-SAI)
January 1979 to January 1981 - (2-years)
Served twenty-four months military service in the SADF – (US citizen) After completing 6 months of basic training, I specialized as an assault vehicle operator and then offered a position as a media center coordinator.
Remaining 18 months of service served in a training-aid development program, conceptualizing training aids and models, producing illustrations, propaganda collateral and instructional guides in all levels of infantry and weapons training.
Functioned laterally as a freelance illustrator/designer.

30 plus years hands-on experience as a small business owner and designer, providing illustration and graphics services to fortune 500 companies, lawyers, marketing and manufacturing sectors.
1997 to present - Distant Learning - Industrial Engineering/Design - Thesis: (ongoing curriculum) - (White Paper), - developed and produced a method and a software application (apparatus), Nextec3D/IP-Docs; to rapidly derive 2D vector projections from 3D source models for producing multiple automated, formatted and interactive technical graphics within a single file. Derived from 3D engineering source models be they patent, technical documentation or presentation graphics and combining the 2D-3D projection engine into one comprehensive package for concurrent engineering, manufacturing and concurrent documentation.
